In the Empire, magic is regarded as a great source of hubris and practitioners must be carefully instructed and conscripted into various services like a mage circle or the Inquisition so that their magic is used for the good of the community and the practitioner will not fall into their own hubris. It’s definitely a big deal to get found out.
